If I'm on Power Practice 3.x, is there a cost to upgrading?

Yes, a MySQL database license fee is required for all Power Practice 3.1 to Power Practice Px upgrades and a 4-hour training session for this upgrade is required. The Power Practice Px program, in itself, has no cost.

MySQL is a third party database software that is required for Power Practice Px to run. We (Exan Mercedes Software) did not create this program and as such we have to pass on the purchase price to the customer. 

MySQL is the required database software that Power Practice Px uses to store all of your electronic patient, chart and accounting information. It is the new cross-industry standard in database technology. It is implemented in a wide range of businesses and technologies, from high-end websites, to banks and hospitals. It is faster, more secure, scalable and is a recognized standard for database technology. 

What happened to the database that came with Power Practice 3.x?

As technology advances, newer and better products come to market, some of which are extremely superior to what was there previously. This was the case with the old Power Practice 3.x database and the new MySQL database. Rest assured that all of your valuable and important information will be transferred to the new database during this upgrade.

Power Practice was completely redesigned during its 4.0 release. It has increased usability options, different screens, different icon placements, additional modules and new functions. Although Power Practice Px can do all of the things that Power Practice 3.x can do, Power Practice Px does things slightly differently and, as such, requires a nominal 4-hour training session to ease the transition from Power Practice 3.x to Power Practice Px. 

The Power Practice Px upgrade will not affect your support rates. What you are paying currently on the previous version will be the same as the upgrade version.
